Charles Herman Hawkins, Second Assistant

Charles H. Hawkins was a Second Assistant Lighthouse Keeper. He was born on September 25,1894 to William and Etna M. Hawkins. His brother Norman Powell Hawkins was also a Second Assistant Keeper at Crisp Point Light from 1907 to 1909 and a Keeper in 1916 (dates unsure).

Charles later married Jean Crawford in Sault Ste. Marie, MI on January 30, 1923. They had five children named Wendell, Nancy E., William Otto, Donald, and Ira. Sadly, Ira drowned at the early age of nine.

Charles passed away on December 21, 1972 in Pinellas, FL and was laid to rest in the Forest Home Cemetary in Newberry, Michigan.
